The humanitarian situation for children in Gaza is dire. Children are losing their homes and their relatives, and are at risk of death from disease and malnutrition. For this reason, Sweden is now contributing SEK 10 million to Save the Children’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza. For the children of Gaza, this will help increase access to health care, education and psychosocial support in child-friendly settings.

This support is part of Sweden’s humanitarian partnership with Save the Children, under which SEK 30 million is being provided in 2025 to Save the Children’s work to protect children in crisis and conflict situations.

Last week, Sweden and Qatar held the fourth annual round of political consultations in Doha, with discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation across the board especially in the light of HH Emir Sheikh Tamim’s successful Sweden visit last year.

Sweden is home to one of the world’s smartest computers – and one of the coolest, literally! 💻❄️

There are some 100 active quantum computers spread across the globe, and the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT) in Gothenburg houses one of them.

Quantum computers use quantum bits, which allows them to solve certain problems much faster than traditional computers. 👏

Take for instance chemical reaction predictions, which could take hundreds of years on a traditional computer but mere minutes on a quantum one. These type of advancements could lead to the discovery of new medicines that are currently out of reach.🔬

Co-ordinated by the Chalmers University of Technology, WACQT brings researchers from universities across the country together with companies – making Sweden a key player on the international stage.

We were honoured to take part in this year’s #earthnasummit2025 , hosted by Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future—a Qatar Foundation initiative advancing sustainability through heritage, policy, and innovation.

We attended the high-level panel “Women Leading Collaboration: Partnerships for Sustainable Development”, part of Earthna’s Women in Sustainability Series. The session underscored the vital role of women in advancing SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals and building inclusive, cross-sector collaboration.

We also had the opportunity to engage with H.E. Dr. Hamda Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of Qatar’s @shuraqatar and a dedicated advocate for inclusive leadership and governance.

The Sweden Solar System (SSS) is the world’s largest model of our planetary system, where Avicii Arena in Stockholm represents the sun. The planets are scaled in size and distance relative to Avicii Arena and lined up to the north. The scale is 1:20 million.

Currently, about twenty planets, minor planets and comets are included in the SSS. The inner planets ”orbit” in the Stockholm area, and the system covers all of Sweden from comet Swift-Tuttle in Blekinge and trans-Neptune 2007 OR10 outside Malmö to stations in Luleå and Kiruna. Each model has a host station.

Nordic Day is a celebration of the close cooperation between Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden — as well as the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland. It marks the signing of the Helsinki Treaty on 23 March 1962 — a symbol of our commitment to working together for a better, more connected region.

Sweden is a global leader in sustainability, driven by a combination of historical, cultural, economic, and policy factors. The country has achieved significant economic growth while reducing carbon emissions and limiting pollution.

Sweden aims to be fossil-free and generate 100% renewable energy by 2045, leveraging its abundant hydropower and bioenergy resources. It excels in cleantech innovation, waste management, and sustainable transportation, with significant investments in electrifying transport and modern infrastructure. Citizen engagement and public awareness of eco-friendly practices are crucial, supported by comprehensive recycling systems and advanced research institutions.

It is my great pleasure to present Platform Sweden, a digital platform where ideas, interests and businesses converge to the benefit of both Sweden and Qatar. The platform aims to facilitate and promote interactions between our two countries, with a focus on showcasing Sweden’s expertise in the areas of innovation and sustainability. With Platform Sweden, we offer a tool for our two countries - for sharing WHAT is on offer, with WHOM to interact and HOW this can be done.

Sweden is a dependable and global leader in innovation and sustainability. It is one of the countries that has come furthest in the ongoing global green transition. As a pioneering and progressive country, we are already expected to lead - but also to collaborate with a diversity of partners. Many ongoing initiatives illustrate the innovative characteristics of our country. Spanning both the private and public sectors, our efforts are driven by a practical, solution-oriented approach, in close partnership with the surrounding world.

By launching Platform Sweden, we would like to stimulate more Swedish companies and organisations to take an interest in Qatar as a market and a partner and to explore the business opportunities on offer.
